Welcome to KvarkenData Learning Café

Discover New Opportunities in the Kvarken Region with Aurora Botnia Vessel Data!

Join us for an inspiring workshop that highlights how the Kvarken region is becoming a hub for innovation through the use of Aurora Botnia’s vessel and environmental data. This event is your gateway to explore emerging business and research possibilities powered by data collected right here in our own waters.

📅 Date: 14.05.2025
Time: 09:00 – 11:30 (Lunch at 11:30)
📍 Location: University of Vaasa, Tervahovi, D102, Wolffintie 34, Vaasa

The workshop will introduce the KvarkenData Portal, an open-access platform offering valuable environmental datasets from the region. You’ll also get insights into Aurora Botnia’s propulsion modeling and learn how vessel and environmental data are being used in practice. On top of that, we’ll present advanced deep learning applications—like segmenting sea ice types from webcam imagery captured aboard the vessel.

This is a unique chance to connect with researchers, industry professionals, and innovators working at the intersection of maritime operations and environmental monitoring. Whether you’re looking to collaborate, learn, or lead, the Kvarken region is full of opportunity—and it starts here.
