Harmonizing Profit and Planet: A Geo-Informed Machine-Learning for Environmental Accounting
Duration: February 2024 – January 2027
The primary goal is to explore the role of environmental accounting within key global industries, particularly the European steel and Australian mining sectors, using modern technologies like Machine Learning (ML) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

Distributed AI for enhanced security in satellite-aided wireless navigation (RESILIENT)
Duration: January 2024 – December 2026
RESILIENT will address the challenges of ensuring cyber-security and privacy for civilian location-based applications, offering increased robustness and resilience of satellite-based positioning signals to various types of intentional and non-intentional interference.

HAVU
Duration: January 2024 – June 2026
The aim of the project is to support the development of nature tourism, taking into account accessibility and the principles of sustainable tourism, by creating partnerships between forest owners and tourism and welfare service companies in South Ostrobothnia. The project promotes the use of private forests and natural sites in economic activities by making use of spatial data and other data.

Boosting Space Business – the Aurora Region Space
Economy Ecosystem
Duration: October 2023 – September 2026
AuroraSpace -project aims to promote space business in the northern Finland, Sweden and Norway by developing a space innovation ecosystem. The project is partially financed by the EU Interreg Aurora program.

Spacecasting
Duration: October 2022 – March 2023
The Spacecasting project aims to find new ways of using satellite data to forecast the economy. The University of Vaasa and the Finnish Meteorological Institute work together with several companies in order to find new targets of application for satellite data.

Logistics and resource management of the future via ubiquitous precision positioning methods (TULEVA)
Duration: September 2020 – August 2022
The project will produce open source software and solutions for smart logistics, widen the future competence within smart logistics in the regions of Ostrobothnia and Southern Ostrobothnia, accelerate the application and service development on the basis of novel technology solutions and assist the development of projects within industrial internet and the related international funding application activities from international programs.
