High Turnout at Space Apps Challenge in Vaasa
The world’s largest global hackathon, NASA’s Space Apps Challenge, was held last weekend at MUOVA’s premises in Vaasa. It was the 4th time this event was held in Vaasa. There were about 40 participants, which is an all-time record for the event.
During the Space Apps Challenge several teams engaged with NASA’s free and open data to address real-world problems on Earth and in space. This year the winner of the Space Apps Challenge at MUOVA was the team VaaSea. They addressed the Rising Water challenge.
This year the Space Apps Challenge was arranged as a part of the KvarkenSpaceEco project. The organizers were the West Coast Startup incubator, MUOVA and the University of Vaasa. Wärtsilä and Platonic Partnership participated in the event as corporate collaborators.
