Mahmoud Elsanhoury and his research team were awarded the Best Paper Award at the WiSEE 2024 Conference for their innovative paper, “Resilient Navigation in GNSS-Denied Conditions Using Novel LEO-Based Fusion Positioning” โž” Read the paper! ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ›ฐ๏ธ

This research offers alternative navigation solutions for GPS systems, addressing their vulnerabilities to interference and jamming. The paper was co-authored by Janne Koljonen, Mohammed Elmusrati, Heidi Kuusniemi, and Fabricio Prol.

Mahmoud, named one of the “Top 10 Young Scientists in Finland 2023” by the Technology Academy of Finland, has a strong academic background focusing on positioning systems, UWB indoor localization, low-earth orbit (LEO) satellites, multi-sensor fusion, Kalman filters, and machine learning algorithms. He’s also a recent PhD graduate from the University of Vaasa, with his doctoral dissertation titled Towards Precision Positioning For Smart Logistics Using Ultra Wide-Band Systems and LEO Satellite-Based Technologies.
